DVD Portfolio
Michael Giltz has been an early and enthusiastic advocate of DVDs. As a writer for Premiere Magazine, he wrote about the DVD’s precursor laser disc but recognized it would never go mainstream. For Entertainment Weekly, he delivered features on the format’s progress and became the magazine’s first DVD reviewer. At the New York Post – a Top 10 newspaper in circulation which had never even regularly covered home video – Michael Giltz launched their first weekly DVD review column and penned it for years. (The column continues to this day.) At Huffington Post, Michael Giltz again launched a weekly DVD review column, also a first for the evolving website. Huffington Post is of course one of the most-linked to and most popular websites online, attracting 5 million to 6 million unique visitors a month. If it were a traditional newspaper, that would rank it among the Top 10 in the country.
